Did you know that belly dance originated as a ritual to aid women during labor & childbirth?
This first of its kind workshop will teach women how to move efficiently & safely throughout their pregnancies and beyond, preventing musculoskeletal injuries with benefits to last a lifetime. Techniques can be integrated into all styles and levels of fitness, dance & yoga instruction and childbirth preparation. A review of core muscle anatomy is recommended but not required.
Upon completion of this course participants will:
- Understand The Anatomy & Mechanics of the Respiratory-Postural Muscles.
- Learn how to prevent injury and promote a healthy pregnancy, labor, childbirth & postpartum recovery with movement science based yoga & belly dance.
- Gain awareness of key muscles that assist women during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Non-pregnant individuals greatly benefit as research tells us these key muscles stabilize low back & pelvis.
- Learn specific relaxation techniques to support a womans natural birthing ability.
Intended Audience: Yoga teachers, physical therapists, chiropractors, doulas, midwives, nurses, fitness instructors, personal trainers, lactation consultants, & childbirth educators.
Instructor
Michelle Maniaci is a licensed physical therapist for 13 years who specializes in pre/postnatal fitness & healing. She is an Integrative Yoga Therapist, Belly Dance Teacher, & Infant Massage Instructor. Michelles passion is sharing movement science based yoga & belly dance to offer the highest degree of safety, effectiveness, & integrity for pre/post natal professionals & teachers, women, & families.
